I have just downloaded and installed dragon age origins: awakening but I see no way to get into it.
Whenever I go into the normal DA:O, it is no different and doesn't offer any 'other campaigns' or anything.

On the start screen click New Game, then you can select Awakening. You don't need to finish the main campaign to import your save, you can even start a new character in awakening if you want. You get the most out of it by importing a complete save though.How do I use dragon age origins: awakening?
Just FYI if you haven't finished origins you can start a new characer, which start out at lvl 18. You will get much more out of it by finishing origins first, though. Playing awakening before finishing origins is like wiping before you poo, doesn't make sense.
