You should play them both if you can. The first one has an amazing story and lots of different outcomes for your decisions. The second one is lacking in some ways, but combat is a lot more fun, the cut scenes are better, and your character has more of a personality. Mages aren't built like toilet paper in Dragon Age, which is a relief to me because on some quests your whole party will go down and you can actually finish off the enemies, with the help of health poultices. I would personally go with a mage because that's my favorite character so far, but if you do wanna be able to open everything you'd have to pick a rogue. From the amount of time I played on my rogue most chests don't contain anything worth just picking that whole class for. I love this game and would go with whatever class you want to use.What class and race should i pick for dragon age origins?
Mages are fun. As long as you stay out of the way and bring a tank with you, you won't die easily. You need to be a rogue if you want to open chests, though if you bring Leilana with you she can take care of most of them.



Maybe read some guides and see if that helps you decide. Or play on easy mode until you get a larger variety of party members.

Yes, as long as he was still alive in DAO, he can make an appearance in DA2. There is a mission in Act 3 (after the Qunari forces have been handled) where you have to track down an Antivian Crow. He will make an appearance during this mission.

If you've got the expansion on disk, you've got to use the disk every time you play the expansion. It does not replace the Origins disk. As far as I can tell, the downloadable version functions like all the other add-ons, in that you'll play using the Origins disk and choose to play Awakenings from the main menu. I purchased the disk, and I wish I had've downloaded it instead.How would Dragon Age: Awakening work?

Listen to me, I have played and beaten both of these games and let me tell you, Mass Effect 2 comes out in the lead by FAR! The first Mass Effect game was amazing with it's cinematics, great graphics, awesome gameplay and memorable characters, you will fall in love. I call Dragon Age Bioware's little gift that they gave gamers until Mass Effect 2 came out. Dragon Age was nothing special at all, it had a lot of bugs, the graphics weren't good at, the characters were very stiff and it just seemed like Bioware just through bunch of things together to make it. And I'm not saying Mass Effect 2 didn't have it's bugs or problems but Bioware took that fixed everything and perfected everything and turned it into Mass Effect 2. Play Mass Effect 2 if you want something to remember, not some old fashioned medieval times/LOTOR style RPG.
Both games are great and they are by the same developer, so I advice you to get both, but if it's going to be only one, then the answer will be depending on your preferences:

1- If you prefer science fiction = Mass effect, if you prefer fantasy = Dragon age

2- if you prefer gun fighting = mass effect, if you prefer medieval fighting and magic = Dragon Age

3- If you played mass effect 1 = mass effect 2.

4 if you wish to play with more variable classes = Dragon age, although mass effect also has different classes, but the variation in the classes of DAO will also offer you different origin stories which mean every class you play with will be completely differentShould I get mass effect 2 or dragon age origins?

DAO is really great. Different origin stories depending on your character's race and many different choices. The ending made me tear up a little.



Bioware is awesome. I recommend pretty much anything they've made. Especially Knights of the Old Republic!



@bluekatt: Actually it's inspired by Balder's Gate, i.e. D%26amp;D with a D20 based battle system. Just so you know, around since before WOW. Bioware was basing their RPGs off the D20 system long before WOW was released.
Mass effect 2, a lot of people won't like dragon age origins especially on the 360. Dragon age origins is awesome on the pc but terrible on the 360.

OK....as far as the woman on the cover, i am very certain that that is the concept image of Morrigan...if you look at the concept images of every character, especially Zevran, they look terribly different...now, the woman on the second link, i can only think that that may be a picture of what Flemeth used to look like...if you talk to her in the game she says that she used to be a beautiful magic user who changes to the "Witch of the Wilds" through loves trials...but to me that person looks like no one else i can think of because of the white hair and beauty...because Wynne is no really attractive lol...so if my thoughts are true then the person on the front, Morrigan, ls definitely recruitable....the rest of the people you can recruit are as follows: Alistair (unavoidable), Shale (through DLC), Leliana (In Lothering, she is in the tavern, she asks to follow you after you defeat Loghains thugs either through combat or speech), Sten (In Lothering, you must speak to him and then talk to the revered mother about his release), Oghren (In Orzammar, whenever you go look for Branka, his wife, he will ask to join you), Dog, (If your a human noble, then you get the dog automatically, but following any other origin will make his companionship a choice, depending on whether you muzzle him and save him by finding the flower for him in the wilds or if you kill him), Zevran (Ambushes you eventually in the game and you can either kill him or wake him and tie him and he will ask to follow you because you have bested him), Loghain (after the Landsmeet, Loghain can go through the ritual if you follow Riordans advice...keep this in mind though that if you do put Loghain through the ritual, then Alistair will either be put to death or you can ask a boon that he live...something to think about), and finally Wynne (you get her before you go into the tower of the mages to save it...keep also in mind that if you side with the templars, Wynne will attack you in a very feeble attempt to do whats right...its pretty pathetic but regardless...)

Once you kill him in the Anvil of the Void quest, he is gone for good.



You can leave him/her/it back at camp and not have Shale in the party when you run the quest, or you will have to restart a previous save file and destroy the anvil.

The Kinect update from Xbox Live on November 1, 2010 caused a large number of Xbox 360 to stop reading official discs and only give an "open tray" message on even non-modded consoles. wekll loooking at specs you might be able to run it on the lowest possible settings but whats killing it is the graphics card. and that is not easy to replace. you could try but its gonna lag like heck. i suggest getting hte demo first and trying that out on it before you go buy the game.

The thing is that no one can answer this question for you easily. How is anyone going to tell you the cheapest laptop available and be sure that it's a good deal? Also, it's not usually a good idea to make a PC buying decision based on a single game which will take you all of two months to play in it's entirety. That same laptop may be useless for games coming out in a year.



Look - here's a way to figure it out for yourself. Go to the Dragon Age website ( or wikipedia) and look for the recommended system requirements to run the game. To run the game smoothly, don't just meet ... exceed the requirements by a little. If you don't know much about computers (it sounds like you need more than a little help) go to a site like NewEgg.com or Dell.com and look at laptops and ask questions from sales support. Go to a local retail store and talk to someone. Don't buy, just learn what you need from Best Buy, or wherever is local to you.

Uldred from the circle tower quest is a pride demon. So are the revenants and arcane horrors. There's no demon specifically named "the pride demon".

They really aren't all that similar. Elders Scrolls is far more expansive. Dragon Age is also pretty linear (especially II). Elder Scrolls also offers far more in terms of customization of how characters abilities can be used. Elder Scrolls game are also a lot longer if you get everything out of them. Dragon Age also has a KotOR style combat system, while Elder Scrolls is real-time. That being said, I actually enjoy the Dragon Age series. It just doesn't compare to Elder Scrolls.

I would recommend playing the expansions Darkspawn Chronicles and Leliana's Song first, since getting achievements in them can give you good items for the rest of the expansions. Then play Origins (and the add-ons that take place in that game as you want to, but I recommend Warden's Keep as early as possible), Awakening, Golems of Amgarrak, and finally Witch Hunt last.

Also, if you like the original, the demo for DA2 should be coming out sometime February 22nd-23rd (depending on timezone differences perhaps).

Edit: Not sure why Awakening would be last when both Golems and Witch Hunt make mention of the events in Awakening, and *SPOILER* Witch Hunt may end with the Grey Warden leaving the known world with Morrigan, if they are in a relationship, and the player doesn't mess things up *END SPOILER*.In what order is Dragon Age: Origins and all its expansions supposed to be played?
Awakening should be last. I'm not sure that it matters on the others since they are kinda just incorporated into the main story.

Well long before I played Dragon Age Origins I played a game called The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which is a RPG like Dragon Age and has 2 expansion packs which are brilliant may I add.

You can get it quite cheap since it's been out for a while, in Oblivion, you control one character not 4.

It's definitely a great RPG. The game is set in a fantasy world (magic, evil creatures, etc.). Kinda like a Lord of the Rings type thing. It's played in 3rd person. Your main character sets off on a journey and meets others along the way, so you play the game with a party.
It's somewhat like Mass Effect + Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich but you can select which character to control at any point during the game, you may pause from time to time for a tactical planning of how to handle a situation. You can set the way your AI partymates move and attack. You can select your entire party like a warcraft3-ish style or control them individually. You can control the growth of each character. It's also great because there will be times when you have to make decisions which can affect how the story goes and how the people see your character.



It's absolutely awesome, graphics, story, concepts, skills, everything...and that's the problem, it's waaay too impressive. I wouldn't recommend it unless you play it on xbox. I'm running on 6gb ram, intel core2duo 3ghz, nvidia geforce 9800, 64bit win7...and it was choppy for most parts, and extremely choppy at mob battles.What sort of a game is dragon age origins?
Dragon Age origins is a brilliant game with an epic story that follows you (A grey warden) Fighting a never ending war and gathering an army of Elves, Humans, Werewolves and even dwarfs!

You will meet all sorts of interesting characters, some evil and some good; some who fight for justice some who just fight.



It's more like WoW than Fallout 3; third person medieval fantasy style. It's A LOT better on the PC than any console, you will get magic, skills and various special attacks.

I just recently ventured into the Dragon Age after being a fan of Mass Effect for a few years and am curious if there are other games like them. Seeing as how even those two are vastly different games, I guess your simply asking for other deep and
satisfying role playing games. If that's the case then a lot of the other games of Bioware's are a good start. Much of their older back catalogue are some of the most engrossing role playing games to be found. I highly recommend both Baldur's Gate 2 (for dragon age), and Knights of the old Republic 1 (mass effect). Other than that, Elder Scrolls III:Morrowind was the best game in the series, as far as I am concerned. Also check out Planescape:Torment. I say PS3. That's what I have an it amazing!! The graphics are awesome and since its on the PS3 it saves automatically at critical points. I don't think the X-Box does that. And its constantly updated. Plus, I heard on the X-Box the graphics are really off and look super bad. I love the game. You should buy it for PS3, I don't know how well it is on the pc, but since its such an intricate game it may run really slow on your computer. I have heard that their are quite a number of minor issues on the console versions, as well as some graphical limitations. Here is a quote from a review I read:



On PC the game is reservedly handsome, enlivened by atmospheric lighting and a fine finish on the game's virtual actors. On the Xbox, though, Dragon Age looks just plain ugly and out-of-date. DA2 has much better graphics, obviously. and in my opinion overall is a better game. However in DA2 there is kind of a set location. Should I buy Mass Effect for 20 dollars or Dragon Age new?

I'm not as worried about the price, but it sounds to me like Mass Effect might be the better game, even though it's two years old. Get Mass Effect. I normally never would have bought a shooter-rpg, an a whim decided to anyway, and it is one of the best games i've ever played. You'll finish it in a week. It's not that short, but you won't be able to pull yourself away from the screen. Seriously. And if you end up enjoying it as much as most people, the second one comes out on Feb 2! Plus, you can always get DA when it becomes cheaper in a few months and after you beat Mass Effect.

mass effect and dragon age are basically the exact same game but one is set in space and one is set in medieval times



i do think mass effect has slightly better graphic though but nothing to write home about



i like dragon age alot more;however, because i like alot of the mage spells and skills



perhaps i chose the "wrong" character class in mass effect (half engineer, half psychic powers, or whatever its called) and my person sucks, so weak..they cant kill anything, the aiming is terrible, i dont like the combat one bit in mass effect and although its a RPG at its core is still a "shooter" and the shooting mechanics suck, just my opnion though



be prepared, both games are like 90% listening to boring dialogue and asking boring questions, watching boring cutscreens..also, most of the "action"/missions are running errands for people and stuff, boring

They are both teriffic games. Mass effect is at heart a mesh of a RPG and a squad based shooter. Not a terribly tactical shooter, but you do run around shooting things with 2 sidekicks.



Dragon Age is more of a classic RPG in the vein of Baldurs gate or Neverwinter nights. Actually the interface is a LOT like Neverwinter Nights.



So pick your poison.



Both have decent plots, character interaction, and are up to the quality standards of Bioware (Which with a few exceptions have always been pretty damn high.) Production values are about the same. Sysytem requirements are the same (As these games need to be playable on an Xbox 360)



Of the two? I'd go Mass effect. First it is slightly cheaper, and second it has "Don't panic" in large friendly letters on the cover. Actually it doesn't, but Mass effect has IMHO much more memorable characters, and as you said the sequal is about to be released,

Red Dead Redemption definitely the game play and graphics are amazing whether its standard definition or high definition it is definitely worth the buy. plus the amount of features in the game make it a good quality long lasting game. whether its hunting and skinning bears,deer or beavers to holding up and stealing money from a bank it is jam packed with plenty of features to keep you entertained before and after you've completed the game. I do recommend Red Dead Redemption. The first thing you'll notice is the beautiful visuals. Everything has an incredible amount of detail and draw distance, and the character models animate wonderfully. Watching the sunset on horseback is a truly visceral video game experience, and won't soon be forgotten. Combat works in a very fun, gritty way. You have a large variety of period weapons to deal the bad guys (or good guys).

So I've discovered that in the end of Dragon Age, Alistair becomes king, and can have a queen, ONLY if you are a human noble. But if you choose the right settings, the female warden can still have the relationship with Alistair... So my question is, if Alistair will persue a relationship with a city elf, Why won't he marry her? ArgghhhhhWhy can't Alistair marry a different race, from Dragon Age?
He will not marry her mostly because how the game runs is that the elf's are compared to as how african americans were treated down in the states during the time when slavery was permitted. They do not believe the elves to be anything more than slaves as suck humans will see the elf wardens to be a disgrace to the order. So being how badly they are treated no matter how much he was in love with a elf warden he cannot marry her because of how badly an outrage it would cause between the human nobles due to the fact that they want to keep the elf's as peasants and keep all higher occupatients for humans. If a elf were to become queen the humans would most likely fear that the elfs would start to try to get the queen to entitle them to become higher class than they are now.

The Blood Dragon Armor for Dragon Age Origins I believe is DLC only, unless you get the Ultimate Edition (in which case it is in the DLC section on the disk, just like all the other DLCs). No. The double XP was a special celebration for something. Can't remember what it was for, but it happened to everyone. You don't get anything for beating DA2, but you do get items in DA2 for advancing in and beating Legends.

Dragon Age Orgins is a pretty good game but the first Bioshock was amazing and received almost perfect scores so Bioshock 2 should be better. It would be most anticipated game of 2010 if God of War III and Final Fantasy XIII didn't come out this year.

Is it critical? No. If you do not play Dragon Age: Origins or Awakening, you will miss out on the back story about the last Blight, Grey Wardens, Ferelden and Orlais. You will miss the opportunity to determine certain facts about the history in DAO, but if you don't ,DA2 will make some default choices for you, the way Awakenings did if you didn't start with Origins.



Is it a great game you should play anyway? Yes - you can pick up the ultimate edition of DAO

Bioware took the approach that both games are self contained stories set in the same universe. As oppsed to ME where each game continues the story of the first. First of all, AWESOME game!

It's the kind of game that makes you wish you lived in their world (something that only One Piece did to me, lol).

It takes about 60 hours. If you really do everything, maybe about a 100.

But still, it's worth it!



Edit: according to gamespot.com (my favorite game site), it will take you about 50 hours to finish the game. It took me more though, I'm the kind that likes to roam around. :P

How to make your tank attack first in dragon age origins.?

OK kind of a noob question but I've had dragon age for about a week now and i want my tank to attack first so he has aggro but i have no idea how to make that happen. And of course when i attack first all the enemies come at me and i end up dying with or without a healer. so how do i have him attack first without the fear of me dying? I do get what you mean (I play a rogue as well) The simplest solution is, to have your Tank enter a room first. If a room is stuffed with enemies, make sure you take control of the tank (Which will probably be Alistair) and have him walk into the room first. He will set off all the aggro and everything will attack him first.





This becomes less of an issue once your tank has Taunt. Even if your rogue accidently sets off an ambush, all you need to do is use Taunt to attract everything towards the tank.



*As a rogue, it would be useful to invest in Combat Stealth. It basically functions as a 'Vanish' and any aggro you may have will be severely reduced. Most of the time, enemies will outright forget you the moment you stealth and attack someone else.

Awakening is fun, but it is just an expansion. If you can only play one get DA2. It's a whole new experience and there is a lot more to it. But, Awakening is still worth playing if you get the chance.

Start from scratch and you are an Orlesian Grey Warden transferred in to rebuild the order.



If you import, you continue your story character from Dragon Age Origins. This includes keeping your gold and any gear currently on you, or in the party inventory at the end of the battle with the archdemon. That's the main advantage. That's the only way to get some items for use in Awakenings.



Aside from that, it's just a matter of the storyline as you have directed it in Origins, and then it doesn't play the hugest role in Awakenings.



Ohgren makes some references to past events, whomever you left in charge of Ferelden makes an appearance (Alistair or Anora) as well as Loghain if he joined the Grey Wardens. It affects some dialog with Nathaniel Howe, since the Ferelden Warden in Origins personally killed his father.Advantages to importing character in Dragon Age Origins: Awakening?
I didnt notice that their were any extra perks to importing your character the only thing i saw is that i was stronger at the beginning because of my level but it does eventually catch up with ya. thats all i can think about. but i think you should import your character and play all the way through then just make a new one from scratch thats what i would do. The only advantages from importing a character is possibly starting at a higher level, carrying over extra items, and sometimes your characters stats will be permanantly boosted by the items you carry over, but I haven't had it happed to me.

It seems so; but the dark-spawn would have to be killed off after all the Archdemons are dead...

If you are looking for similar XBox 360 games I would definitely suggest Mass Effect - also made by Boiware, but its SciFi instead of Fantasy. Its only got three romance options but its a lot of fun.

There are 2 chests in each house one is your storage, the other is where premium content is stored until you take them out. The storage chest are hidden in other rooms for some reason such as the one in the house you are currently at is behind the door nearest to the main living room.

I'm pretty sure you can transfer him now. It will increase your level automatically. But, since not all the plot flags have been set the game will probably use the defaults. So if you care about how the game recognizes your story you should finish origins.

I have played dragon age so many times and I despise the fade most because it takes forever. Does anyone know a faster way to get through it? Like a certain order to go in for the shape changer abilities? I also want to get my companions out.Finish lost in dreams quest for dragon age faster?
Do you play on the PC? I downloaded the "skip the fade" mod, just google it. Basically it allows you to skip the entire puzzle portion while gaining all the ability points and xp and go right to the boss fight. You know the pedestal with the glowing dots right? Well get the mouse form and start from the top one (which is the one you're on when you get mouse) go clockwise. Go to the 2nd and 3rd glowing dots and get them forms but don't go all the way to the boss at the end. Skip the 4th dot for now and go to the 5th. Get the form and this time finish the area, fight the boss at the end. Then you have a choice. You can go counter-clockwise from the 5th dot and finish the other planes or continue going clockwise. Finish killing all the other demons at the end of each plane, save your companions, and kill the Sloth Demon.

That's how I always do it anyways.


EDIT: But this way is the fast way which means you'll be missing a lot of stat boosters. But 9 times out of 10, I just end up duplicating the Tome of Mortal Vessel anyways....

My dragon age awakening import is not complete?

I went to import my dragon age awakening grey warden, a survivor of the first game and a warden commander after. And since awakening doesnt have a save at the end when you beat it i have to import from my save before the brood mother. So when i try to import into DA2 says the game is incomplete and that dragon age will fill in the gaps. Does that mean it wont count my dragon age origins or awakening stuff?My dragon age awakening import is not complete?
I didn't have that issue with mine, but there is a really great tool that allows you to 'create' a saved game from DAO/A and import it.

The Gibbed saved game editor/creator allows you to set all the imported variables from DAO and Awakenings, such as who is king, if you recruited certain companions and what happened to Mother, the Architect, Ameranthine and Vigil's Keep

EDIT: I did want to add, that though I started with an imported character that had gone through DAO and DAO:A completely, after using a saved game generated through the Gibbed editor, and (I swear!) setting the exact same choices that were in my DAO/A playthrough, I got a couple of different dialog responses from characters in my second play through acknowledging the Hero of Ferelden, Alistair or both.

I'm not sure if the game allows it (like Mass Effect 2 does) - but even if you can't, you could just start a new game and play it from there.

All critics seem to agree that the PC version is better. The game was designed for PC and the console versions have a less user friendly interface and worse graphics. I also read that the PS3 version has framerate issues.
Go with PC, the interface screams PC. You can just click and drag with mouse or click on the spell you want for combat. You can use mouse to draw squares around the the people in your party and give them all different commands. Console would suck for this type of micromanagement. Plus I heard the console only offers over-the-shoulder view. PC offers that and top tier view when you zoom out. PC version is far the best, but will take a nice system to run.What system should I get Dragon Age on?

the pc all the way. even if you had to build one from scratch it would still blow away a ps3 or xbox 360 for around 400$ i spent 350$ and over cloacked mine 2x the factory speed and it runs games way better than console. besides you get the joy of mods when they come out. cant ever do that on consle systems.What system should I get Dragon Age on?

Go for the PC. It is a better game all around than the console versions.

Is dragon age origins ultimate edition worth it?

Iam thinking about buying DGO: ultimate edition for 28pounds. I used to play alot of dragon age origins had all sorts of chars etc etc.So are the dlcs any good and worth the 28 pounds?Is dragon age origins ultimate edition worth it?
If you can sell your original for about 拢10 and get this version for 拢28 it will be only 拢18 for all dlc which is excellent value for money. But the DLC is only good if you are a fan, which I think you are, so you will enjoy them, but if you just like the content you will be disappointed because there is not a lot of it (apart from Awakening) but there is lots of storyline and character development which make it interesting to play.



If you played it a lot and had lots of chars and you got into the story then you will enjoy the DLC and it is definitely worth it.

i have the pc version of the game so i don't know if there is any difference. But as far as i know you should have a talent that summons your mabari. You don't have to do anything to get that skill you already have when you start the game.

Theres two Dragons you kill in Dragon age two one when you are clearing the mine out and you kill it on the ledge once youve run through the mine, this one drops the tooth. and one when all the miners die and you kill the high dragon below where you killed the mature dragon ( this is on second from last act if i remember correctly) and this one drops a fire gland. ( if not its the other way round on the drops).

DA2 has better combat, there is no question. Origins combat is going to feel slow and awkward in comparison. It's not unbearable, but you probalby won't enjoy it as much as DA2.



Graphics are a matter of taste. I think people overall look much better in DA2, especially female characters. The races are also much more distinct. But I do think that origins had better environments and more variety.



The biggest reason to go back and play origins is the story. It feels much deeper than DA2 and your choices have more influence.
